Hybrid Kenyan Englishes

is the strand of research which evolved out of the project "Linguistic reflections of re-contextualised identities in global and local lingua-franca-discourse".

Starting in 2006 and with the help of a colleague at the University of Nairobi, we have investigated how this is reflected in recent developments in the English used by upper middle class speakers and represented in Kenya's print media. Below is an example:
